The clove tree has been cultivated on plantations for over 2000 years. A slender evergreen tree with a smooth gray trunk, up to 12 meters high. It has large green leaves standing in pairs on short stalks. In Chinese medicine the oil is used for diarrhea, hernia, and bad breath. Clove is used to treat abdominal problems and in balms for pain relief.
